Today Marks 22 Years of Parenting

22 years!  Wow, it sure does speed by!  It seems like we were just bringing this little 6lb. 2oz. baby boy home to our little rent house in south Louisiana.  He was a great baby and an easy child.  I tease him that it's because he was so wonderful we had so many after him : )
I had tears in my eyes this morning as I realized how much I have enjoyed parenting him and just being a mother in general.  I wanted to encourage all you young moms out there, that it is so very worth it!  Nothing can fulfill us women like mothering and no place are we more content, valued and needed than in our homes.  I'm so glad God chose to trust me with this precious child and all the others He has graciously given us.  Don't give-up young moms!  Don't stop praying and seeking the Lord in how you are to parent.  Don't take one minute for granted.  Don't be discontent raising children and desire to be out of the home working in a career, or even working in ministry or volunteer work, or doing fun things like pursuing hobbies.  Each year speeds by and each memory is so very special.  Love on your babies today. Kiss your toddlers. Have fun with your older children and let them know how special and important they are.  Nothing compares to motherhood!

  2. Wow, you look like his sister--that's not fair! Seriously though, thank you for this much needed encouragement. I think we all know it but the other voices in society sure can drown out what we know to be true. Thanks again!

  3. This is such a great post! How inspiring, thank you for sharing! I'm a mother of one currently and have thought about more, but it's one that has terrified me. I think the scariest part about being a parent is knowing that it's your responsibility to try to teach your children to be good people and instil good values, morals, the knowledge to know the difference between right and wrong and so much more. I look at parents with mulitple children and think to myself "if they can do it, why can't I?" Not that you seem to need it, but I just read a great book and I would love to share the recommendation with other parents. It's called "Teaching Kids to Be Good People" by Annie Fox, M.Ed. You can check her and the book out on the website http://www.anniefox.com/. It's a wonderful read and I'd recommend it to anyone. Thanks again for the post!

  5. So strange to think that I will be writing a post like this in 19 years! I am a new mother to two and I love it. Some days are really REALLY hard, but I know that it's worth it and that I'm growing each and every day. I cannot imagine another profession that would push me, change me, and fulfill me like motherhood. Your blog is an inspiration!

  7. LOVE how you are encouraging the younger mothers!! Perfect timing reading this. My oldest daughter and I just got some alone time tonight to do our Bible study together. We are working on Raising Maidens of Virtue, and some of the verses we went over tonight were from Titus 2:4-5 when he is telling the older women "that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed." And you are doing that! Thank you for your encouragement. I love how much you love being a mother. Happy birthday to your son!! You do look too young to be his mother, though.

  8. This is so true and I'm sure an encouragement to any moms who read it. Keep up the good job (of blogging and mothering). Congrats on the oldest son's b day. My oldest (of eleven) is 36 and he and his wife have seven (so far!)children of their own. I love being a mother, and you're absolutely right--it is so worth it.

    1. Thanks so much : ) I was 23 when I had my first child. I exclusively nurse for the first 6 months and then slowly offer solids so my children have been naturally spaced at 20-22 months apart. But I've had 4 miscarriages over the years and one full term still birth so that is why there are some longer spacings in there. I know how it can be overwhelming, especially when you are expecting. We have just trusted in God to provide and so far He has done so even in ways we never imagined!

  16. My son likes to sleep on his tummy, for what i can tell, he couldn have wet his clothes wet 3 times each nite using diapers. But with honest diapers, even though it's not 100% guarantee there's no accident, it only happens when he drinks super-lot during the nite. For my 19-m-old boy, Honest works 3 times better than other diapers!
