Teenage Girls Are Still Little Girls

Why does our society try to grow-up little girls so fast?  It was so precious, on our recent beach trip, to see my teenage daughter and her friend play in the surf for hours with my little girls.  I realized that even though they may be teenagers they are still little girls at heart.  They are young adults and both of them are very mature, especially spiritually, for their ages, but they are still so silly, innocent and playful.  They enjoy the simple things and thankfully are not "boy crazy."  I'm so glad they are not too mature to play with my younger children.  God has great things for them and I know they will grow-up so very fast, but for now they are still "little girls" to me and they actually like being that way.  May we not grow our children up too fast or as parents try to live vicariously through them.  I love the verses "I'm sending you out like sheep among wolves. So be as cunning as snakes but as innocent as doves." Matthew 10:16 and also Romans 16:19b "but I want you to wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil."

  1. i like that verse, too, and need wisdom on how to walk that out. and i agree that we as parents should not try to live vicariously through our children- i have seen that happen and it is so painful for the child. may the Lord help us as mothers keep our little girls (and boys) innocent.

  4. So funny you posted this. When I saw this picture of A & K on A's facebook page -- I thought how young she looked. I love her innocence. May God continue to keep her pure and precious.

You're doing a great job with your beautiful family.
